Grover Walker suffered a heart attack after watching news reports. James and Jeff Walker said their parents were just outside Washington when the terrorists struck Sept. In 1989, a federal judge ruled that deputy sheriffs violated Walker's right to free expression by forcibly turning his flag upright. Walker sued county officials in federal court, claiming they violated his rights. Family members were arrested during the protests. The protest has included stamping messages on thousands of dollar bills and staging demonstrations to get attention.įor a while, the family had a 90-foot flagpole in the front yard, and the noisy protests often included readings of the Constitution over a bullhorn from a platform atop the pole. Grover Walker has been feuding with the Air Force since his discharge in 1966 after a psychiatrist said he was paranoid because he thought his superiors might be Soviet spies.Įver since, Walker has demanded an apology and a statement from the government that he is not mentally ill. I think the only reason I’m not giving this the full five stars is because it does ride that line of being syrupy, perfect sweet, but it is still a really awesome book and is exactly what I was in the mood for. They have righted the flag on the 30-foot pole in front of the house, along with smaller flags in the yard. Come one, who isn’t going to crack up at the perfect visual of “feline buttholitis of the face.” Both of the main characters were adorable, but I really loved Jordan.

This was cute and sweet and seriously funny. Maybe Hennessy can convince Jordan that his world hasn’t been turned upside down at all, but maybe it’s now-for the first time in his life-the right way up. Leaving his North Shore support group behind, he starts his own in Surry Hills, where he meets first-time-attendee Jordan.Ī little bewildered and scared, but completely adorable, Hennessy is struck by this guy who’s trying to find where he belongs. His being asexual had seen the end of a lot of his romances, but he’s determined to stay true to himself. Hennessy Lang moved to Surry Hills after splitting with his boyfriend. But when he realizes adding the label ‘asexual’ might explain a lot, it turns his world upside down.

Gay, geek, a librarian, socially awkward, a nervous rambler, an introvert, an outsider. Blurb: Jordan O’Neill isn’t a fan of labels, considering he has a few.
